What is the Ora Sport?

The Ora Sport is an electric sports car concept designed by the Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors (GWM) under its Ora brand.

Ora Sport Design

The Ora Sport features a sleek and futuristic design with a low-slung body, sharp lines, and a distinctive front grille with a light-up Ora logo. Inside, the Ora Sport features a minimalist and high-tech cabin with a large digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a variety of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.

What powers the Ora Sport?

The car is powered by a dual-motor electric drivetrain that produces a total of 300 kW (402 horsepower) and 480 Nm (354 pound-feet) of torque, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds. The car's top speed is estimated to be around 200 km/h (124 mph).

The Ora Sport is equipped with a 93.6 kWh battery pack that provides a range of up to 700 km (435 miles) on a single charge, according to the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) test. The car also supports fast charging, which can provide up to 80% of the battery's capacity in just 30 minutes.

GWM Concept Car

It's worth noting that the Ora Sport is currently a concept vehicle, and GWM has not announced any plans to put it into production. However, the company has stated that the car represents its vision for the future of electric sports cars, and it could influence the design of future Ora models.

The longest-range electric vehicles (EVs) on the market are:

  1. Tesla Model S Plaid: With a range of up to 628 miles on a single charge (EPA), the Model S Plaid has the longest range of any electric vehicle currently available.

  2. Lucid Air: The Lucid Air boasts a range of up to 520 miles on a single charge (EPA) and is available in several different trim levels.

  3. Tesla Model S Long Range: The Model S Long Range has a range of up to 405 miles on a single charge (EPA) and has been a leader in the EV market for several years.

  4. Tesla Model X Long Range: The Model X Long Range has a range of up to 371 miles on a single charge (EPA) and is one of the most popular electric SUVs on the market.

  5. Tesla Model 3 Long Range: The Model 3 Long Range has a range of up to 353 miles on a single charge (EPA) and is one of the most affordable long-range EVs on the market.

Who designed the Ora Sport?

The Ora Sport concept car was designed by GWM's design team led by Andreas Deufel, who is the Head of Design at GWM's European Design Center. The Ora Sport was developed at the European Design Center in Barcelona, Spain, which was established in 2019 and is responsible for the design of GWM's global models.

The design team aimed to create a vehicle that combined high-performance and cutting-edge technology with a sleek and sporty design. The result was a concept car that features a low-slung, aerodynamic body with sharp lines and bold styling cues, including a distinctive front grille and angular LED headlights. The interior of the car is also futuristic and high-tech, with a digital instrument panel, a large touchscreen display, and a minimalist dashboard.

Overall, the design of the Ora Sport concept car showcases GWM's commitment to innovation and forward-thinking design, as the company aims to establish itself as a leading player in the global automotive market.

Tt is common for concept cars to take several months to a few years to be designed and developed, depending on the complexity of the project and the resources available to the design team.

In general, concept cars are created to showcase a company's design and engineering capabilities, and to gauge public interest in new technologies and design features. These vehicles are often built with unique or experimental features that may not be present in production models, and they may undergo several iterations before the final design is approved.

The Ora Sport concept car was first unveiled at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, so it is likely that it was in development for at least a year or two prior to its debut. However, without more detailed information from GWM, it is difficult to say exactly how long the car was in development.
